Strength –Embrace Life – Love Each Other

Written by Pam on November 24, 2014

Yesterday I met with two friends to take our dogs for a walk. This was a reunion of sorts for our golden retriever, Sage, as she got to reunite with her siblings. For me, it was a renewal of how sacred life is and how each day truly matters. During the walk we talked about our dogs and about life and death. Our dogs brought us together some 2.5 years ago when I had the last two puppies and I needed to find loving homes for them or they would stay with us and be a part of our pack. Kristi called me and wanted to see our male pup (Black Ribbon now Brady) and it was love at first sight for both of them. We also had Kiera (I named her Kiera – which means beautiful in Japanese) Theresa and Roger came to see Kiera. Once this couple came to our home, I wanted them to be the owners of Kiera because of the love they had for each other. But I could not make that decision; they needed to make the decision if they were ready for a golden – all the joys and all the hard work that goes with owning a puppy. They made a decision within moments of seeing her. They looked at each other when I asked the question, “does she meet your expectations?” and both together said yes we want her. Her new name is Maci and her temperament coupled with her commands done without asking is so beautiful that I could not take my eyes off of her yesterday. After 2.5 years, I am so very proud of both families – they have done such a great job raising, training and loving my homegrown goldens.
I want to share this continued blog with you as we all need to embrace – love – and give strength to those who need an extra hug now and then. Theresa and Kristi came together to meet me. Theresa and Roger, Kristi and Sean – both families – have been struggling with this disease called Leukemia. After a brave battle with this disease, Roger passed on and has passed on his strength and encouragement to his wife, Theresa, to his sister, Kristi and to his girlfriend – as he lovingly called her, Maci. I am truly amazed at the strength that Theresa has and the love and support that Kristi has to carry on and embrace life. Kristi gave of herself in so many ways as Roger and Kristi were children – but she gave of her own – she gave Roger her blood – platelets and marrow to keep Roger alive and to enjoy life longer… I want to compliment, love, and send my deepest thoughts and prayers to these wonderful families.
People who cross our paths in life are directions – are reasons -of how we should live our lives together – and to appreciate what we have and how to share with someone who needs – a lending ear, a meal or a hug. Please appreciate this blog for how important friendships truly are. Love, Pam
