EZ-DUZ-IT!!! Week_3

Yes, when training the pups, you need to do things gradually but to stick with it – easy does it!

From the whelping until now, the pups needed very little to thrive – they needed to be warm, to be clean and to be nourished.  Now at 3 weeks, the line up of verbs have definitely changed.  The first set still counts but they also now need, to interact, to socialize and to be trained.

The pups are just 3 weeks old and they have already felt the difference of their cozy sleeping pad vs the newspaper.  We divided up the whelping box, allowing room for their comfy sleeping area and the other side with newspapers. Some of the pups actually have used the newspaper to soil on already – this is amazing as we normally start a little later. See the embedded videos on how instincts play a role on where and where not to soil – at this age, they already know – not to soil where everyone sleeps! Click on the videos below to view – they may take a minute or two to download…

During this next week, we start with a new set of verbs!  We start with serving a wonderful gruel / grub – so that verb would be eating, they will be talking up a storm – that is making a lot of noise when they know the food is coming, and they will be growing – by leaps and bounds!

Sage is spending more time with her favorite jolly-ball and less time with her pups.  Even though the pups have had a couple of pedicures, their nails are sharp – along with their deciduous or baby teeth are starting to erupt – so how can you blame her… So this is why I start the gruel early to wean the pups from Sage – so she can do what she loves to do. Right now everyone is between 1 – 2 lbs – but this will change over the next couple of weeks!

Also on a weekly basis I will be updating the blog entitled:  ICU + URGR8 with the updated pictures of the puppies – so you may want to compare week-by-week how they are changing :*)

Please look for our group email – it will be going out sometime this coming week – This email will be a Puppy Event schedule that will come from our HGT Customer Service. The email will talk about the Pick-A-Puppy weekend, the 8_Week Pick Up Schedule and other things our HGT Golden Families need to know!

Enjoy, Pam
