Adult Golden Retrievers
OZZY
SAGE
Sage is our HomeGrown pup. Today, Sage is a well-rounded adult Golden. Sage has that sunny disposition that you can take her anywhere and you’ll be proud of her. She is extremely athletic and agile with tremendous stamina. She is happiest when retrieving tennis balls and bringing them back and dropping them at your feet – all day long, if you allow her to. She is equally talented at quietly sitting right by your side at yard party or giving comfort to an aging relative by lying quietly beside her. Sage has gone through her OFA regiment in April, 2014. AKC & UKC Registered – OFA Eyes, Normal; OFA Hips, Good & OFA Elbows, Normal; Auscultation, Normal Cardiovascular. |
MEAN
Mean has been a attentive mother to her two litters, contrary to her call name. She is the type of golden that loves humans but when the whelping starts, she prefers to do what Mother Nature has intended her to do without any human intervention. Her magnificent temperament, intelligence and athleticism are imprinted onto her daughter, Sage and son, Ozzy. Mean is now retired from motherhood but continues to amuse us with those untrained talents! AKC/UKC Registered -OFA’s passed but she is now retired to do what she pleases! |
MEOOYA
Meooya at 8 weeks (First two pics) and Meooya at 1 year ! I think she loves to stick her tongue out at me!
After many word-swirling gyrations, a beautiful dog’s name has been finally chosen for our newest golden grand. HGT’s I Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You, Aberdare, or an abbreviated acronym of MEOOYA. Our Goal was to find a certain symbolism in a saying or song that rings true with the temperament and the fascination of the puppy. A bonus that tags along…here is that the pup’s grandmother, Wilhelmina, has many nicknames, a couple that seem to be used most often are Mean and Meeo. This puppy is the spitting image of what her American field golden grandmother looked like as a puppy, so we wanted to try our best in achieving this (name) connection. I think we succeeded in creating… Meooya. Meooya carries that confident yet resourceful temperament and certainly takes on that structure that sports that big-blocky look from her Canadian roots.
I Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You, truly speaks for itself with this small amazing pup, but Aberdare came to us with some research. The word, Aberdare, is a beautiful breath-taking place in the high sloping mountains of Kenya. When looking at Aberdare topographically, it resembles a completed circle within a circle – a non-ending circle of love. The Aberdare rain forests give way to a dense bamboo forest and then moorlands or that of water catchment areas that provide most of its water to many of the animals that live in Kenya and the surrounding areas.
Back home here at HGT, we love the word Aberdare and truly appreciate what this word must mean to those who live in Kenya. We too feel that this word, Aberdare, takes on a similar meaning for us and for this amazing puppy. We see in her, the willingness, the attentiveness, the quick “I got it, Pam” response and the “eww-ahh” rewards that I already foresee from a breeder’s point-of-view, to understand how this pup will someday become a valuable talented service dog – one that will continue to help those in need. I want to develop our Meooya to be in another spot-light – a spot light that will source her attention and behaviors on those who need her most – I have the best tool to do it…our MEOOYA!
Yearly OFA’s Eyes, Normal + Free of observable inherited eye disease (last test: 3/12/17);OFAs and genetic clearances will be done when Meooya turns 2 years old. We already have a few sires waiting for her!
