Written by Pam on May 16, 2017

I want this blog to be about the love and dedication Wilhelmina has given us over the years.

Mean, as we affectionately call her, has brought us many ‘firsts’:

  1. Mean brought us our very first litter of Golden Grands
  2. Mean is our first golden great grandmother, a grandmother and a mother here at HGT
  3. Mean taught us that there is no right way to housebreak a puppy – just open the door and let everything else fall into place.  The thought of amazement would instantly appear once the pup just runs to the outskirts of the property to do its business and returns happily.
  4. Mean taught us that the boundaries that humans set for their canine friends should be broken and freedom should always prevail
  5. Mean taught me early on that all these contraptions (leashes, leads collars etc) are not necessary when her intention is always to stay by my side!
  6. Mean taught us that she will be the leader of this HGT pack where she will socialize, train, discipline and love all the pups we help create
  7. Mean taught us that being a field golden comes with many challenges but many more rewards!
  8. Mean taught us that she is the resourceful one, the obedient one, the respected one
  9. Mean would give me that ‘heroes – welcome’ ruff-I-love-you…every time she set eyes on me – even if I was only around the corner…
  10. Mean was my devoted pal, my precious gift –
  11. If Mean could talk, the stories she would tell, but each story would have a fantastic ending
  12. Mean was everything and more of what I could have ever imagined – in a dog

A Dog’s Life, Love and Our Attempt at Letting Go… by Pam @ HGT

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.

Your red hair in my locket – it will always stay – so you are close to me in every way.

You have taught me things that are very dear.  My life has changed without you here.

I knew it was your time, but you will always ‘stay’ – loved and respected for all you gave me every day.

I love you Mean…

I will walk with faith even if I cannot see…Corinthians 5:7
