Fluidity In Motion or Beauty of the Moment

Call it what you like, I call it our HGT golden grands in action. No matter if the puppies are introduced to a new training tool, or an old(er) toy, the fun starts and never seems to end until I have to take the trainer away! We have been training the pups to retrieve the trainer from the water. As you can see the pups understand what to do with the trainer . I want them to find the trainer that is already in the water and then to bring it to me. The finding and retrieving tends to be effortless but the returning is understood but not yet achieved! For those of you who want your HGT pup to go hunting, fishing or swimming with you, you may want to purchase a Dokken trainer. These trainers are NOT toys, they are training tools only.
Akona is a true handful – she owns her space, she now owns Enoch’s space, but when she performs, she performs spot-on. For this very young pup, to perform the commands as soon as the words leave my lips – to me – is astounding. She already knows the verbal commands: sit, down, and say hi. She also is learning my personal non-verbal commands too -when I clap my hands it means ‘sit’ and when I raise my right hand high above my head, this to Akona means get down and stay down right away and then I get something really tasty! I already get this feeling that HGT’s Akona will excel in obedience/rally and maybe more…
Enoch seems to learn from the example that Akona sets. Although he is more of a love than a performer of sorts. Enoch sits when Akona sits, Enoch jumps around crazy when Akona jumps around crazy. Enoch, as I see it right now, will excel in conformation – his structure, gait, tail set and angulation are truly wonderful so he needs to look the part at show and be watchful of the handler’s movements and go-go-go. Hopefully he will then move the judges, as he already does for me, and places in some AKC events – only time will tell…
The pups are young and have time to learn – now they are little sponges wanting to please and learn all that we teach them – don’t loose this opportunity and start to teach your HGT puppy these commands – most of the pups in this litter already demonstrated to me that they know the verbal commands – so now it’s your turn in teaching them the non-verbal commands. It’s fun and each session will leave you impressed with what a 10 week old puppy retains! Enjoy, Pam
