Get the Gist!

TyTy started her FUN-damentals 2 obedience training class.  I knew going into this class that Ty would show the instructor some taught commands and some that she had grown to know with Mean and Koko always enlisting her participation in their captivating – dog-gone ways!

We had fun – we reviewed what Ty already knew – sit, sit stay, down, down stay – Ty also threw in the ‘Say HI ‘which captured the attention of many :*)

I enjoyed having Ty do many of the expected commands with a simple movement of my hand – not a word – when the other dogs needed the word-reinforced with a treat! Hooray TyTy!!!

Sit! Stay! Down! DOWN STAY!

If you start obedience training your puppy at an early age, you will be delighted (as I was today) when your dog’s performance is “spot-on”!

There have been many articles written on how do dogs learn from their human companions. Is it, human speech – certain word patterns that we use in repetition or are they just cuing in to the tone of our voices or better yet do they pick up on certain hand gestures?  I am all about the hand gestures – and our HGT TyTy knows them without any words to go along with it!   Although I do agree that a word with a hand gesture will be beneficial as well.  Here at HGT, I try to teach the dogs verbal and hand/directional commands.  I do this because one never knows if the hearing becomes impaired for the canine or for the human later in life – so I try my best with both types of command.  As you spend dedicated time with your puppy, you will see how you influence his behaviors and how this beautiful bond is established.  At HGT we train our dogs to understand hand gestures and the repetition of certain words, so that they will always be obedient and outsmart the most talented of canine!

Enjoy the pics of TyTy in action @ her first day in Fundamentals 2! Our HGT TyTy made me very proud today she maneuvered some formidable tasks! :*) :*)
