Golden Retrievers

Golden Retrievers

Our Golden Retrievers are the most beautiful, obedient and smart golden retrievers there is to offer! Our American/Canadian Goldens can be recognized by their slim build and their blocky heads. We breed goldens whose majestic coats are honey blond. Our goldens try and outsmart us when given the opportunity –

It is official – both of our beautiful chocolate labradors have been bred.  We wanted this blog to be about our dogs, our breeder friends & their sires and the HGT process. The fun has started here at HGT, but when the ultrasound shows puppy sacks, then the excitement is truly in full swing :@) :@) (The ultrasounds happen in about 30 days from today!)

Semen Droplets – from both sires …all active and perfectly formed!!

Below you will find pictures of our dogs, Koko and Ty and then you will see the magnificent sires we chose for each of our girls…

Let’s start with pictures of HGT’s Koko Kawaii Hito. Koko is an exceptional labrador, she is always in the game to win but also to please.  She will be right by your side or right up in your face as you can see from the picture below.  When she whelps her pups, she always shows you her true devotion not only to her new born pup, but to us by wagging her tail between whelping her puppies! We also included the blocky-stocky picture of Koko as a pup.

Here are some pictures of Koko’s daughter from her first litter, HGT’s Ty-Ty Taisetsu Tomadachi.  Ty has made us proud from day one.  She is an amazing, well-behaved labrador that is a joy to take anywhere.  No obstacle is too much for Ty.  She figures things out and is very resourceful.  She has done very well at every obedience and agility class we attended.  She has also taken a few handling classes where when that handler’s lead goes on, Ty knows her stuff – a totally different stance, gait and no sitting for Ty – she knows when this type of lead goes on – all learned things change and there is no sitting allowed!  Match shows were a success without a hitch with Ty!

To read all about our dog’s pedigrees, genetic results and health clearances, please go to the LABRADORS/ADULTS section of our website.

If you are interested in our litters, please go to the CONTACT heading of our website and fill out our questionnaire.  We need for the questionnaire to be complete before you send it to us.  Once we receive your completed questionnaire, we will add your name to our lab list.   Cheers, Pam

You need to give your HGT puppy something to do – and to do often.  A pat on the head, a bowl of fresh water, a loving word are all great and the puppy needs all of this but they also need some simple command training.  Your HGT pup already knows the commands for sit and say hi – you just need to reinforce these simple commands by asking the puppy to perform each command often.  See the videos below of RiverLea – she is a bright puppy- always wanting to be in the game – alone or with the older dogs :@)

Once your puppy has had all of its core vaccinations or when it is 16 weeks, I would recommend getting the puppy actively involved in some type of obedience training.  This training is good for you as well – you will meet owners of many different breeds at these training sessions.

To have HGT great, you need to reinforce what they have already learned here and I promise you, you will have everyone of your neighbors asking “how did you train this magnificent animal” – it comes with time, training, persistence, and …love!

See our videos below of the love, persistence and the training that happens here at HGT.  We are just having fun with the dogs, but they are truly in the game to please us – they even stop the game for a quick wet kiss :@)  The two videos are of our Kissakee Crest and our Enoch who stopped the game for a quick “hug & kiss”.

We are switching gears for 2016.  2016 is HGT’s year of the LAB – so be expecting a couple of beautiful dark chocolate English labrador litters this coming summer.

For our Golden families …”no worries” our eyes are always focused on finding the best of breed sire with healthy clearances for our golden line. We are considering a beautiful sire for Sage but we want her to have a well-deserved break and will consider another breeding during the late Summer.

Enjoy the videos – and try some of the training commands – you will be…amazed as to how smart a HGT 9-week old pup really is! Enjoy, Pam

RiverLea Say Hi RiverLea Sit

We are so happy to announce that Sage has started her heat cycle.  If all goes as planned, Sage will be bred to Devin, Abalee’s Sea Shores N’ Poetry – a magnificent golden sire.  This will be a repeat breeding of these two wonderful goldens. To read about Sage’s health and genetic clearances, go to Goldens/Adults and scroll down to Sage’s section. After some information about Sage, you will find her genetic testing and results of each test. To read more about Devin, click on the following link:   http://www.abaleegoldens.com/our-boy-devin.html.

We are very proud of Sage. She is a true pleasure to be around and when we walk, she follows my lead – never pulls when on the lead nor runs from the beaten path while with me.  She finds the joy by just walking by my side.  She is a wonderful golden, a great dam with her pups and a respected member of our ever growing pack.

If Sage conceives in September, we will have golden grand pups joining us in November. We expect this litter to resemble that of this beautiful pair’s first litter.  This litter will be registered with the AKC under a limited registration.  The parents are Canadian/American Golden retrievers.  If you are thinking about a beautiful, healthy golden retriever to join you and your family, go to our contact heading and fill out our questionnaire – please fill it out entirely so we can call you once we know when Sage conceived. :*)

We hope for the best for Sage and we will blog Sage’s progress for all our HGT families.   See some pictures of Devin, Sage and their pups from their first litter.  Enjoy, Pam

According to Woofipedia/AKC, below is a list of those breeds that are … just smart and easy to train.  I cannot be more proud that both of my treasured breeds hit the top 6. The AKC identified 10 of the most intelligent dog breeds, see below.  I would like to challenge and beg… to differ …the #6 position for our Labs – to me, they belong among the top 5!!

 1. Australian Shepherd

2. Golden Retriever 1_sage w mohawk Ozzy Face w Snow Adorable website

3. Siberian Husky

4. Belgian Malinois

5. Newfoundland

6. Labrador Retriever  IMG_8329 Happy Happy Ty Ty

7. Beagle

8. Bloodhound

9. German Shepard

10. Border Collie

Having both breeds here at HGT, many families ask me the differences in these breeds – and my answer is always – they are only similar with ‘retriever’ in their names.  Both breeds are very different.  I thought I would take some time and try and illustrate the differences in both breeds- as I see them.

HTG’s Goldens – Always – always happy go lucky – never to have a bad day dog – they seem to maintain this jolly happy gentle way of being way into their late teenage years. Always a pleasure to spend time with and they are the type of dog that actually makes you feel proud to be around them.  A breed with magnificent eye-contact and curiosity which makes for a leg up on the command training! With dedicated training, this breed will do what is asked and the command is then ingrained and will never be forgotten. The training for this breed, starts as soon as their eyes are open 2-3 weeks and actually while they are still in their whelping box! They need their share of exercise but not as much exercise that is needed by my labs!

HTG’s Labs – Jolly Happy Souls!  Always in the game – always wanting the game to begin and the ‘faces’ when the game is over, toys all returned to the chest and its time to come inside – like kids!  If trained properly, this bond that is created is unbreakable.  A very strong and energetic breed that loves going for long walks, swimming or hunting – whatever you want to do – the lab will always there.  Labs are as gentle as they are intelligent so when training the Lab commands, they truly understand the messages from their owner/trainer whether being vocalized, hand-gestured or silent – this breed has proved to me that to them “life truly is a a game” and with their favorite human there to enjoy this game, the lab will succeed in any event and leave you speechless and in awe!

Sage Advice, Homegrown Trilogy’s AKC, UKC Golden Retriever, has been bred!

IMG_8818 Sage 2.5 yrs IMG_8938   headshot sage  Sage 2.75 yrs

We are very excited here at HGT.  Sage Advice, HOMEGROWN TRILOGY’S KISS AND TAIL has been bred to a beautiful golden sire named Devin, ABALEE’S SEA SHORES N’ POETRY.

This is Sage’s first breeding so we are very excited and hope for the very best!  In a month’s time, we will have an ultrasound done to determine if we can see water sacs and have a viable pregnancy.  If you are already on my golden list, you will be called once we have the ultrasound results.  If you want to be on our list for this litter, you need to fill out our questionnaire under the Contact heading of our website.  Once we receive it, we will call you if you wish.

Sage is a beautiful, agile, friendly golden who has already passed all her OFA health clearances and is ready to enter into the next rite of passage or the world of motherhood…she is always willing to help our other dams when it comes to whelping and rearing their puppies so it is my feeling that she, too, will conceive, whelp and produce a beautiful litter. To learn more about our Sage Advice, visit her on our website under Golden Retrievers/Adults and review Sage’s pedigree, pictures and health clearances.

Devin_Abalee Goldens  Devin_Abalee Goldens2 Devin, Abalee Goldens

To learn more about Devin, please copy this url into your browser –  http://www.abaleegoldens.com/our-boy-devin.html  Devin has already passed all of his OFA health clearances and carries all of the same attributes as Sage.  In Devin’s parentage there has been many champions – like his dad, CH Golly G Cayberry’s Way to Go-Go and his grandfather, CH Highmark Mirasol Once a Knight! Having met Devin a couple times now, I feel that he is not only a magnificent – head turning – golden sire, but his AKC name speaks volumes to me.  As most of my HGT families know, I love poetry as much as I love my dogs, so to find a suitable sire for Sage who carries Poetry in his name, is a job very well done.  Poetry is my echo, Poetry in motion or My Poetry – a piece of peace- are names that are on my mind to keep the notion of beauty and poetry going in our lines!

We anticipate a beautiful, healthy litter – possibly with some show prospects.  The pups will be evaluated for show qualities at their 5th and 7th week!  This litter is a Canadian/American Golden blend! AKC Limited Registration. Keep watching our blogs for updates on this litter!

For those families interested in our next anticipated chocolate lab litter – please check our blogs – we will inform everyone of when these pups will be joining us in the Spring! Enjoy, Pam
