HGT’s Golden-Grand Pups have joined us…joy and paperwork will ensue…

Written by Pam on April 5, 2015

On Tuesday, 3/31/15, our golden retriever puppies have joined us. It has taken us many hours to help Sage whelp her first litter, but everyone is fine. We started the whelping process early afternoon and we ended at midnight. See all the pictures taken of Sage, who by the way, did a remarkable job! In a few days we will remove the pups’ dewclaws and schedule a vet exam. At a couple days old our pups will have their hearts and lungs checked and an overall (mini) examination.

Now the fun starts! I will be calling everyone that I have on my golden list. If you are already on my list, please think about the timing of this litter, the joys of owning one of our HGT pups – but also think about the hard work of raising a Great puppy. Start thinking about where the pup will sleep, what the puppy will eat and where the pup will be trained. I can help you with all of these puppy concerns. But most important think about if you are ready. I will always be available to my HGT puppy owners, but you need to make sure. When I call you this will be the very first question that I ask you. If you are certain about a puppy, I will need to ask for a hold deposit. The hold deposit is $200 that will hold this pup for you in the order that I have you on my golden puppy list.

I am very happy with this litter – all the puppies are beautiful, some carry the coat color of their grandma, Wilhelmina (Mean), Sage’s Mom but most are that golden grand glow. Devin imprinted himself very nicely into this beautiful litter! I wanted to include with this blog a special poem on how a ‘dog’ was given its name. Please enjoy the following poem simply entitled – Dog

When God made the earth and sky,
The flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
And all the birds and bees,
And When his work was finished
Not one was quite the same.
He said, “I’ll walk this earth of mine
And give each a name.”
And so he traveled land and sea
And everywhere he went
A little creature followed Him
Until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
And in the sky and sea,
The little creature said,” Dear Lord,
There is not one left for me.”
The Father smiled and softly said
“I’ve left you to the end.
I’ve turned my own name back to front
And call you Dog, my friend.”
