Hogwash!!!

When I am not training, whelping, weaning and enjoying our dogs, I am reading all there is to know about them – inside and outside! Well, I just read an article published by the AKC regarding the 8 Biggest Myths About Dog Food. This is an important read! We represent Life’s Abundance and I stand on solid ground in all its offerings – but this information about PORK is hard to swallow and apparently not palatable for our canine friends!
The article talks about the dangers of feeding a dog any pork product. The inside scoop discusses that pork has a high fat content that could lead to pancreatitis and contain things toxic to a dog’s liver. The author did go a step further and asked one company to explain their pork-base offering and the company discussed the health advantages of Pork instead of its drawbacks. The company reported that Pork is highly digestible and an excellent source of amino acids. So we will need to dig a little deeper in trying to understand the use of Pork in our dog’s meals.-
From what I always understood and have raised many litter on a gruel, then a kibble containing a moderate protein to fat ratio of 26/16. It is understood that a high-protein diet can cause many issues in a growing puppy or even an older dog – kidney failure – is a certainty that comes to mind if the protein levels are too high over a period of time on this constant diet. So be careful as to the food choices and the ratios! Dog and puppies are just as happy eating a frozen string bean or a cored apple than having a doggie pork rind or a doggie beef jerky snack! Quality protein sources to look for include chicken, beef, eggs, lamb, fish, and meat meals. Meat meals are highly nutritious forms of dehydrated meats (water and fat removed) that are concentrated sources of protein. Look for meals with a specific name (such as chicken meal) when examining ingredients.
While it is true that (particularly large breed) like our HGT puppies benefit from a moderate protein content diet during their growth stage, in order to allow for slower, more even growth and to avoid orthopedic problems, the concept of avoiding proteins and fats in a pup’s diet should not at all be considered – Look at Life’s Abundance – the ratio of protein to fat is good and the gluten-free ingredients are even better. This is why we believe in offering such a great food on our website and we honor a longer health guarantee on our puppies as long as the orders can be traced from our tracking.
Again, think and read all the ingredients before deciding on a food that is good for your HGT puppy!
