Puppy-Puppy-Puppy

AND boy do we have many! Koko whelped all 12 of her puppies throughout the day – what an experience! HGT bred Koko Kawaii Hito to Zinfndels Markers Mark – Marcus who is a beautiful black sire. We studied the coat color genetics on the pair and I knew that the black coat dominates, but I felt that our dark brown would surface – instead we were gifted with 11 black lab pups and 1 amazing yellow lab pup. Koko carries yellow, so this really is not too much of a surprise. For over 20 years we have produced amazing puppies, but this litter was special in the sense that since breeding our labs we were only focused on breeding our dark chocolates, now we have experienced the tri-colors although in this litter only black & yellow surfaced. We have 4 black females, 1 yellow male and 7 black males. What a day – we have been helping Koko whelp all her pups since early this morning.
I wanted this blog to go out early enough because we have been collecting names of families that are eagerly waiting for a chocolate HGT puppy. I will be calling everyone over the next few days that we have on our lists to ask now if you’d like a black or yellow lab puppy. If you are certain you want a chocolate, and I truly understand as I cannot resist mine, then I can add your name to our next breeding as we will be breeding chocolate to chocolate. Now if you want a Koko pup and you want a black or a yellow lab puppy, then you need to tell me this when I call you. Give it time and decide – here at HGT we give you plenty of time to think things through …because we understand inviting another member to the household is wonderful but it really is a lot of work – but it will all pay off once the pup is trained to make you proud. Further I still need some time as I plan on doing some DNA testing on this litter which will reveal coat color makeup, EIC clearance, etc.
Below are some pictures – the red light is our warming lamp to keep the pups warm – the pups range in weight 1/2 lb to 1 lb! Once we all get some rest, I will show each pup individually. Enjoy, Pam
