To Have and NOT to Hold®™

One of my most favorite authors, Ted Kerasote, wrote in one of his beautiful books, …lessons were not about training, but about partnership. They were never about method; they were about attitude. And at the heart of this attitude is a person’s willingness to loosen a dog’s leash — in all aspects of its life — and, whenever practical, to take off its leash completely, allowing the dog to learn on its own, following its nose and run FREE… Because of such a wonderful positive impact Kerasote has had on us in so many ways but mostly by allowing the dog its supervised freedom and always allowing him to explore and to experience its zest for life, we wanted to create dog gear that will allow our dogs that sense of freedom. We would like to introduce our new to the marketplace dog gear.
To Have and NOT to Hold ®™
We have been working on two very exciting dog gear projects here at HomeGrown Trilogy – both products will benefit you and your HGT puppy – although the benefits truly happen when the pup is full grown for the use of the HGT new collar system but there will be an immediate benefit with the HGT Hipster Hold lead!
It seems like lately I am better off creating what is good for our dogs instead of finding it available in the marketplace. We have created two innovative and functional gear products for our dogs and the kudos goes entirely to my father-in-law who patiently listened to my ideas and within a few passes brought these projects to life.
The first product is our To Have and NOT to Hold ®™ all-in-one collar system for our large breed dogs. My intention was to create a lightweight collar that allows the dogs to run free or run by my side as we run together and not to be too concerned about the leash part of the walk. My desire was to fix the leash or to eliminate it to some extent. A collar that will contain the leash was my wish. This collar system has a small retractable bungee leash built into the handle on top of the collar for easy access when you need to hold on to your dog and its retractable and out of sight when you have no need to hold on to your dog. The dog will wear the collar housing the leash so there is no need to lug around their leases when at the dog park. The leash is always in one place and will never ever get lost – so you will never ever forget it again :*) The large collar system is a beautiful durable collar/leash combo designed so we are abiding by those society signs posted stating the dogs need to be on a leash – Well, now the dogs will not only be on a leash but they will be carrying their leash and always have their leash attached to the collar and easily reachable and not attached to the human :*)

The collars have arrived and are beautiful, sturdy and just as I have dreamed! They will be offered on our website soon, once I get the e-commerce platform to work. Just remember these collars are suitable for large breed dogs. The collar has a double adjustment to make the correct sizing on both sides of the collar – this type of design was chosen to ensure that the collar/leash handle is balanced and on the top of the collar. The collar sizing can increase to 23” in diameter or decrease to the smallest of 18” in diameter.

The second product is our To Have and NOT to Hold ®™ Hipster Hands-Free Training Lead System for our puppies My intention was to create a a training tool for our puppies that will allow you to train the puppy while your hands are free from holding the lead. The puppy thinks that the trainer’s hands are restricting them as the normal leash is attached to your hand and to the puppy so this idea of having a lead still attached to the pup while being comfortably attached to your hip, is a good tool for both the puppy and the trainer. A long beautiful lead that will allow the puppy to be with you all the time while you are training him with some silent and visual hand signals/commands and also to allow your hands-free to carry on with your daily routine :*) This new innovative lead will be 6 feet in length but will also house the bungee cord to extend another foot when needed. The best part is that the lead will adjust comfortably around your hips and/or waist. It can also be used around your hand but for training purposes it is best worn around your hips to have your hands are free while training your pup.

We selected ribbon /webbing for both products that is unisex and will look great on either our chocolate labs or our light honey goldens. All the side-release buckles, Talon Clips, D rings, fasteners, Adjusters, etc are all made out of plastic or aluminum so they will never rust and they are a lighter weight metal. All the metal pieces are engraveable so we took the opportunity to engrave our company logo there so we are always with you!
These leads are still in production and will be available to everyone in a month or so. They will be available for sale through our website under the heading of Be&Eat Well/ Tools I just love these innovative – functional designs and I think you will too…Our aim here at HGT is to better the breed and to produce puppies who are jolly-happy and healthy. Now our intention is to ensure all our HGT pups are always safe and enjoy their supervised freedom!
