Do our dog’s communicate? If I were asked this question I would say with all certainty that they do – just differently than we do. They communicate with their eyes, their ears and their tail – not to mention a few koos and sloppy kisses! They communicate! You need to focus on your HGT puppy as he grows to best understand what he is trying to tell you.
Here at HGT we have many dogs and it is hard to study each one of them but there are a few dogs that manage to make sure I watch their movements to best understand what they are trying their very best to communicate. Sage will bring in her stainless steel food bowl every morning – but she does this after she eats her kibble – why? Maybe she wants more, maybe she wants some water – my thought is that she likes to bring me the bowl but the noise when she drops it seems to bring on a very happy Sage – almost like a way of waking my daughter to come and play :*) Eps our youngest lab, will go around the property picking up as many of her toys as she can muster in her rather smaller size 10-month old lab mouth – is it because she just can or is it because she wants to play with each toy – leaving none for anyone else? Or why does Akona drop to the ground and wiggle and move like a snake when you wiggle your finger at her – what does she really interpret this to be – our thoughts are that she is thinking come here when she does not want to come but she submits to a position of cuteness and wiggles? Who knows but it is definitely a way she chooses to communicate with us when she sees a finger moving…Koko our oldest lab and mom to many here at HGT will not leave the upstairs until I come down – nothing can get her to come downstairs until I am present! Can it be my wonderful personality and my love for her, or possibly my great Kong recipes or can it be her level of security with me around? Our dogs tell us many many things – you just need to pickup on their ways in which they choose to communicate it and then really try and develop it into something special :*)
Anyway our dogs are indelibly attached to us through communication – in that dog-EYED kind-a way! Enjoy them. Here are some pictures of how our HGT pack chooses to communicate with us.
